Isaiah 41: 10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee;
yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Verse 13
For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
Verse ten says that God will uphold me with the right hand (God is right handed!) of His righteousness and verse 13 promises that He will hold my right hand. The only comfortable way two people can join right hands is facing each other, like done at the marriage altar. So I’m thinking as I walk along (with Him by my side) and I get fearful, God has me pause, turns to face me, looking me in the eye, and says, “Don’t be afraid, I’m here, don’t be worried, I’m your God, I will give you strength,” as He squeezes my right hand with His right hand.” Then after His assurance, I can continue on my way.
As I walk each day, I can expect trouble. But then there is the pause… the pause when God turns to look into my eyes and me into His, and He speaks the words of reassurance.
It reminds me of a song that CT and I sang (and recorded) when we first began singing together.
“Walk with me, walk with me, lest my eyes no longer see all the glory, all the story of your love.
Talk to me, talk to me like you spoke so tenderly, when you walked there, when you talked there by the sea.
Let me follow in the footsteps that tred the shore of Galilee.
Let me learn to pray like He did in the Garden of Gethsesame.
Take my hand, take my hand teach me Lord to understand
All my duty, all the beauty of Your love.”
Enjoy your walk…and remember to be conscious of the pause!
Hi Sweetie,
What a great insight! I’d never thought about that… if God is holding my right hand with his, we must be facing each other.
I still like singing that song with you.
Love,
CT
Precious thought! Thanks for sharing. 🙂 I’m gonna remember this in my hardest times.
I agree with CT…that WAS a very insightful assessment of GOD’s WORD!
